Today, MCI wants to celebrate the achievements of Johannes Gensfleisch zur Laden Zum Gutenberg, who invented the movable-type printing press on February 3rd 1468. Gutenberg, as his name suggests, was born in what is now known as Germany. He was a man of many talents, a goldsmith, gemstone cutter, member of the militia in Strasbourg and (of course), inventor.
When Gutenberg developed the movable-type printing press, movable type was already being used in East Asia. However, Gutenberg’s invention was much faster at printing and his invention spread all over Europe – then the rest of the known world at that time.
Similar to the emergence of AI in our professional and personal lives, Gutenberg’s invention revolutionised how information was made available to the general public. Literature of all types spread throughout Europe and became much more accessible to all. The subsequent exchange of ideas across countries had a massive impact on the Renaissance, Reformation and humanist movements.
MCI has lots of experience in repairing the electrical and electronic parts of printers (although we doubt there was any of that on Gutenberg’s machine!). If you have any problems with your machinery, just give MCI a call on 01324 611371 to see how we can help keep your machinery going.
Have a great rest of the week everyone!
