How many of us can remember rushing home from school to watch this favourite cartoon. Originally, the cartoon was aired on Saturday morning, but grew in popularity and moved to prime time children’s TV. Scooby-Doo was been made into comics, feature films, clothing, board games and many, many other items.
As the years passed, Scooby-Doo and friends obtained cult status. Iwao Takamoto, the character’s creator, based Scooby-Doo on a Great Dane. He took all the characteristics of the Great Dane and reversed them all for Scooby-Doo. After a long run of cartoons, the series was retired in 1996. Scooby-Doo came out of retirement for an origin story animated film in 2020, enchanting another generation of children.
Even the term ‘a Scooby-Doo ending’ was become part of the English language. Any fan of Scooby-Doo will remember many different permutations of the words ‘And I Would Have Gotten Away With It Too, If It Weren’t For You Meddling Kids’.
Scooby-Doo, we miss you! Have a great weekend everyone!
